Hi Chana,
I didn’t go into details about my brother, Simcha*, but he has been unfortunately struggling with stage 4 cancer over the past 2 or so years and the idea of donating a sefer Torah to his Rabbi/shul was very important to him and it took an even greater degree of meaning since he has been recently (and remains) hospitalized. Although I was involved in the logistics of the Torah and mantel, Simcha was the ultimate decision maker on every aspect of the project. Rabbi Levy, who is extremely close to Simcha, told us that the mantel was a huge hit in his shul over Rosh Hashana and the members of the shul feel emotionally attached to my brother through the sefer Torah. I can’t thank you enough for pushing this project through in time for Yom tov as you now see the urgency of the matter. We are actually planning on having a minyan at his bedside next Thursday be’H and Rabbi Levy will bring the Torah and Simcha will get an Aliya.
