Vizhnitz Montreal's Unique Aron Kodesh

When I spotted this Aron Kodesh on Instagram, I asked designer/producer Yossi Bokchin of UltimateDesignNY to let us in on the ‘behind the scenes’. (I found it especially fascinating because I am a born-and-bred Montrealer myself…).

As says Mr. Bokchin:

“This Aron Kodesh was designed actually many years ago and we took this design from different Aron Kodesh we had made in the past but of course made a twist so it will be unique for it self!

“We added in many carvings from old visnitz shulls that makes it nice.

“The planing that went into building the Aron probably took longer then making it as there is so many details to it and everything needs to work with the measurements.

“One big thing that was very hard to put together was the windows as they have a special gate that comes down and the first design we made would not work with the gate we spend many hours and made many computer pictures to see the options we had so it can work ( not always we can make a design based on the picture!!!! ).

“The Grand Rabbi from Visnitz Monsey was nifter as the Aron Kodesh was almost done and the customer emailed me that as the son will also become a Rabbi they want to put a railing around his place ( all Visnitz rabbis have a gate around there shtender).

“We needed to change a few things to make it work but we are happy we had the option to make it happen.

“The installation was very tricky as the PCS are big and they need to go up very high so every part from of this Aron kodesh before we made it we needed to first make sure we will be able to bring in the PC though the doors and how will we be able to bring it up!!! and yes even after all the planing we had some problems but as we are in business for over 20 years we have many tricks up our sleeve.”
