A Tiny Little Way To Raise Big Fundraising Money

If you’re currently dreaming of building a new synagogue or renovating your current shul, you’ve probably noticed that little obstacle standing in the way of achieving this dream. It’s called money.

Today I spoke to Michoel Hayum of WOW 3D STUDIO, who opened my eyes to a tiny little way to raise big fundraising money.

M.H.: “Good morning. Here’s a 3D printed model of a synagogue in Boro Park. It’s a little over 12”. The community has already bought the site, but they’re still in the planning stages. The shul directors bring this model along to fundraising meetings. They’ve had so much success in getting closer to their fundraising goals, because the model turns the abstract idea of a new shul into a concrete proposition. Donors become emotionally connected to the project and give wholeheartedly.”

“Here’s another stunning Chassidishe shul in the early building stages. The community sent me floor plans, and I brought them to life with my 3D printer. Once I create the file, the community usually prints one large 12” model, and several smaller 4” replicas. I usually work on an architectural scale, i.e. 1:50 1:100 1:200.”

C.G.: What can a congregation do to thank the most important donors who’ve helped so generously in realizing their dream?

M.H.: “That’s a no-brainer! They can offer them a miniature model of the Aron Kodesh! This is an Aron Kodesh in London, England. The Gabbais sent me photos and ordered the replicas as donor gifts after the shul had been built. Appreciation is a beautiful Jewish character trait!”

C.G.: Who might also order your miniatures?

M.H.: “Developers, architects. It helps them sell!”

C.G.: Any closing remarks?

M.H.: “I love the stuff I do- I think it’s amazing! I think it’s very convincing!!
